I'm 44 and I look too frumpy for the way I genuinely feel inside. I'm tired of covering up the real me with all this frumpiness!!
Your book speaks right to the heart and soul of a woman - do you know that? Your words jump off the pages and have pulled me out of this mess that I am not, but of which I have become. THANK YOU!!!!

I'll never forget Oprah Winfrey's reaction to my makeovers on her show.
"Amazing! Amazing!" she repeated.
"Fantastic, just fantastic!" she replied again.
You can pretty much say you've been validated when Miss O has praised your work.
Though visibly impressed with the makeovers, Oprah asked the question on many women's minds.
She asked, "Christopher, how do you help these women hold on to their new look?"
At the time I really didn't have a good answer, so I said, "You just have to maintain it. Life is maintenance. It's a daily thing."
Let me ask you a question. What if I could teach you:
Well, I can! I've done it for thousands of women just like you.
I have to tell you, it took years to develop this system, and what seems like even longer to get it to the public but ...
Listen to what Sarah has to say:
I'm 64 yrs. old and this has come at a perfect time for me. I'm trying to lose weight that I have recently gained due to the passing of my fraternal twin sister. Your information is wonderful and I'm learning things about myself that I didn't know before. Your various quizzes and your sections to write things down is a great idea.
The affirmations and the tactful way you give us stern advice is great. It is like you are right in our homes and giving us a one on one consultation.
Thanks so much for this wonderful gift of your talents. Most of all, thanks for letting us mature women know we are never to old to take care of ourselves.
I liked your comment "Voices of the past must be put out with the trash. You can change your belief system and indeed your must to move forward." Great advice that I intend to take to heart.
I get so many emails telling me what a difference this system has made in women's lives.
I am completely and forever humbled and in awe that this information could make such a difference. Truly.
But it has. And it will for you.
Now I have to be honest. I wasn't happy with just a book. No. I'm not happy yet. I won't be happy until every woman who remembers Watergate has been given the opportunity to know to express the best she can possibly be.
That's why I created, above and beyond my book, the Beauty Revival Guide.
Finally, I've made it even EASIER to stage your comeback with the image maintenance system I talk about in the book.
Plus, I've laid it all out for you, so you don't have to lift a finger to figure out how to do it yourself.
In addition to my book, I've created The Beauty Revival Guide.
With The Beauty Revival Guide you will:
Not only that, each section has it's very own, clearly written step-by-step guideline for creating the most effective method for looking your best...every day.
With the beauty revival guide you will easily and effectively take what you've learned from the book and implement it into a system that is guaranteed to get you off your butt and out of the rut to attaining and maintaining your ultimate image.
I've read a number of books on how to look better as you age, they were all helpful; but yours was absolutely awesome!!
It really is inspiring and so truthful; you really are the best at what you do. Thanks so much.
The book is the answer to my prayers - I am, beginning today, taking the step by step challenge.
It is a wonderful book, and you made the process simple.
Thanks to you and to the tips I learned from your book, I look forward to the changes I know will come, but now feel I have the ability to face them gracefully,
all while being and looking the best that I possibly can. Thank you!!
Thank you for all your helpful and transforming advice and careful explanations to go with them.
Now, I suppose you're wondering what it costs to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and reclaim the beautiful woman you know you can be?

I just came across your book over the weekend, and haven't put it down since I got it. What a great book! There are so many useful tips in there. The guide to what style (IPS) you are is invaluable, and I've often wondered why I don't always feel great in some of the piece of clothing and jewelry I own - - it's the wrong stuff for me!
Your writing style is very informative, but done with great flair. I was chuckling at your comments all throughout the book. I've told several of my friends and family all about it, and they are all intrigued as well.
I just recently picked up your book. I am about a third of the way through it and already it has made such a big difference in my life. I am 38 years old (ok, a few days away from 39) and I laughed at your comment about still dressing in Forever 21 clothes.
I guess I'm what you would call a Classic with some Casual and Dramatic in there too. I went into my closet and was amazed at how many 20-something items I still have in my wardrobe that do not belong there. I have naturally curly hair and I've been straightening it for years and just recently took your suggestions on taking care of my curly hair and letting that be my style instead of fighting it. I have had so many compliments so far that I never received in all of the years that I was using the flatiron. I was really dreading turning 40-something but have a fresh new outlook on it now.
I can also tell you that I have never written any kind of letter like this, but in this case you have made such a positive difference in my life I just had to drop you a line to let you know that and to say thank you so much!
I have enjoyed reading your book. I read it for two fabulous nights before I realized that it was for women over forty! I don't know how I missed that on the cover, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I was hooked after reading your memory of your mother painting her face for an afternoon of housework.
I am 28 years old, and beginning to age. I am a middle school teacher and somewhere in between becoming a teacher, and moving from NY to SC I stopped caring about the way that I look on a day to day basis. I hid behind many of the excuses that you listed in your book. I used to care about the world...etc!
My Mother, Nans, worked at a makeup counter when I was a child. She is a beautiful woman, and always had short platinum hair, and the best makeup! We had closets full of makeup, creams and perfumes my entire childhood. I remember wearing lipliner around the house in elementary school! I fondly recall my mom leaving for work, fully painted and stylish in her belted gold trench!
Thank you again for your wonderful book, and have a safe and happy holiday!
Not to be annoying but..I really do want you to know how much your book as meant to me and I just got it yesterday.
In the past 2 years I quit smoking as I had both humeral heads replaced (shoulder replacement) the right in October 2006 and November 2007 apparently I had 70 year old shoulders in a 51 year old body. So with inactivity and no smoking I put on 50 pounds...it will come off, just not overnight. Then in September I was laid-off so I have been a bit sad about the whole couple of years and probably externally it has been showing the whole past couple of years have been a bit taxing to say the least.
Yesterday I sat down to read your book (almost half way) and the best thing that I can say is..I think that you are giving me my dignity back for which I grateful....
Again thanks, I'll keep reading and suggest it to my friends...
I happened upon your book and it was like a divine gift! I am 45, but after a very difficult 3 years or so I had put on weight and had just generally let myself go. In addition to feeling frumpy, I also felt hopeless to "fix" anything because I didn't know how to deal with the changes that aging was bringing to my face and body... I had definitely bought into that "less is more" myth about makeup and it was NOT helping me!
I'm not a woman who dreads her age, but of course I want to look as good as I can. By following your advice -- particularly where makeup is concerned, I feel that I have created a "fresh" look for myself and I feel terrific! (I have also lost 18 pounds and lowered my cholesterol by 26 points through nutrition and exercise!!) Using your book as a guide, I am wearing more eye shadow, and eye liner for the first time in my life, and I love how it plays up my eyes! (I have also returned to a better coverage foundation -- I was wearing virtually none.)
I have gotten many positive comments, but the best part is how much better I feel about myself. It's sort of like you gave me permission to spend time on myself... getting ready to meet each day... even if I'm the only one who sees me! (My husband -- a newspaper editor -- works crazy hours and often doesn't get=2 0to see me "cleaned up" during the week!)
Thanks to you and to the tips I learned from your book, I look forward to the changes I know will come, but now feel I have the ability to face them gracefully, all while being and looking the best that I possibly can. Thank you!!
I am writing to say "I am" taking the challenge of your book. Saying this to you is my way of making a promise I WILL keep!
The book is my answer to prayer - "I am", beginning today, taking the step by step challenge - Once I step out in faith, God will provide the money and resources for the details.
Thank you, and may the Lord richly bless you for being a blessing!!!
I read your book on a flight from Houston TX to Pittsburgh PA. I picked up the book to thumb through on my flight and was so impressed with your makeovers that I had to email you.
Thanks so much for the words of wisdom and encouragement you gave me in the book. I wish I could come to you for a makeover, but since reality dictates that I try locally, I was wondering if you could recommend someone in the Houston TX area.
Thanks and Have A Great Day!
Yesterday was a big day where I work. We had two accrediting committee members visit our school to make a recommendation on a proposal that would be very beneficial to our students, including me. We all wanted to make a good impression. I put on my best outfit I had that complied with your book - a just below the knee gray skirt, a black sweater top perfect for my build, my high heel black pumps, and I curled my hair. By this time, I am getting better at it, and it looks more natural to me.
I was feeling pretty good about how I looked, but I was in for the surprise of my life. I had a class first thing in the morning. I walked into class. One of my fellow students, a very tall, handsome, stylish, young (30ish) man walked in behind me. He drives in from out of town and always wears a suit. As I turned around to sit down, he said to me "you look very vogue today." WOW! He might as well have said "you just won the lottery." I'm still smiling.
But, I'm also thinking, I still have a lot of room for improvement, because I just started on your plan. That was just preliminary changes, I haven't begun to really get serious about it yet. If I can look 'very vogue' now, the sky's the limit! Boy, do I have incentive now!!!
Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
I have to tell you how much I love your book. I have just started my "comeback" after the death of my childhood sweetheart and husband of 26 years. Now at 46 I am looking at just me, and what I need. It is very scary but your book and tips have given me hope.
I have lost 45 pounds over the last year and have another 50 to go. I attended a workshop on image by Janice Trailor who is great and gave me a starting point. She mentioned getting my hair off my face and no bangs-but I have to let them grow out. I'm thinking the ultimate reward to myself is a trip to your salon when the weight is off. In the mean time any tips for a emerging butterfly?
Yesterday I found your book while tooling around Wal-Mart. I bought the book for my girlfriends as we're all 50-ish. The book is a solid hit! Congratulations. Thank you for putting in print what so many of us need and want to know.
I have just re-read your book "Staging Your Comeback", and I want to thank you for championing and yes, liberating! woman of a certain age. I admit, I considered a plain brown wrapper for your book as I read it for the first time on a flight to Europe. (Europeans would scoff at the idea that a middle-aged woman should ever have been missing, and need to stage a comeback. They are waaaaay ahead of us here.)
I am interested in your magic, and I finally have the time and a bit of discretionary income to spend in the elusive pursuit of beauty. I will peruse your website directly after I send this, but here and now I want to volunteer for your next book, whenever you write it.
Keep up the good work. Millions of dowdy American women look to you for inspiration.
I just wanted to tell you that you rock!!! I just happen to come across your book at last night. I ended up staying up to 1:00 a.m. reading it. It is amazing what you have done for these women. I also wanted to commend you on your prices. I called today to be put on your waiting list, and couldn't believe that you charge such reasonable prices. I appreciate someone who makes this journey of mine attainable.
I'm 41 recently divorced and need some help really bad. I can't wait to have you work your magic on me. In the mean time, I got up this morning and put on some makeup to wash the car. lol. Anyway, I will be working on the other areas of my life, while I wait to see you. Thank you so much for giving me hope. I really don't think that you have any idea how you are touching so many women in my situation.
April E. P. Wilkerson
You're a busy guy so I won't take up much of your time. Just suffice it to say your book has saved my life. I am 51 years old and am at a crossroads in my life. I knew I had to change something about the my appearance but have not been able to find any help. Your book is just what I needed. Real advice and help for someone my age, not someone trying to hand on to 20 years ago. I have a drivers license picture from about 18 years ago I keep trying to imitate. It's not working.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge and help with all of us who so desperately need it. I've almost read the entire book making little changes along the way. I'm ready to compile the binder and put everything into full motion.
I've never written to an author before but after finishing your book, Staging Your Comeback, I had to let you know how much I enjoyed a book that was not only full of valuable information but also written with a little crazy humor!
Over the years I've read a zillion books on make-up and fashion but now that I'm in my fifties (how did that happen so fast?) I realize I need to re-learn what I thought I knew and re-adjust what I thought worked. (If Madonna can transform herself so many times why can't I?) So, while I was not starting at zero in many ways, I still needed to be reminded of some of the basics that have gotten blurry over the years. In addition, you provided some cool new thoughts that I've added to my new me.
And, thank you again for a writing style that is to the point but takes the time to have a little fun along the way. There were several instances when I nearly fell out of my chair with laughter!

I'm only 32, but your book made a HUGE difference for me. I married when I was 22, had children, and was frump mom by age 25.
I heard you on TV, and bought your book despite that fact that I'm not the target audience. It is a wonderful book, and you made the process simple.
I went clothes shopping this weekend, and for the first time I could actually tell when a piece of clothing didn't work for me. I used to buy clothes based on whether or not I liked the color and if it was my size. I now have a lot more knowledge on how to choose than color/size. Thank you.
I've lost 30 pounds, and will lose 50 by the time I'm done. I've learned how to do makeup, and have a great new cut. The best thing you wrote was that nobody is naturally motivated to fix up each morning. That really stuck with me.
Again, thank you and maybe you should do a book for 30's!
Just wanted to send you a note to thank you for your book. I am coming 53 and am one of those who finds herself always now saying "I used to...." Having been a real hottie as a young woman, when middle age finally caught up with me several years ago, I just sort of gave up.
I am a semi-retired lawyer in Texas who also has a horse breeding and show barn (I also show dogs). I slowly crept from "dressing up" only for court or to go out to dinner and have evolved into actually going to court or a dinner party with no makeup! Just couldn't see the point.
Your book caught my eye two days ago and I bought it on impulse. Last night I finished reading every word and this morning I got up and did my makeup. A couple of the ladies who have their horses in training with me had never seen me in makeup before and were astounded.
I WILL make a comeback. And it will be YOU that inspired it. Thanks a million for making me CARE again.
Christopher, I can honestly say, in my entire 56 years, I have never read a book, cover to cover, in one day. I was so taken by each chapter, I could not put the book down. It was exactly what I was looking for and you nailed it! Each chapter was so clear and concise, interesting and full on good advice. At the end of the final page, I wished there were more (Even though everything I needed to know was right here in this wonderful book).
As a Classic with Dramatic shadow, you have inspired me to do a head to toe makeover. I will follow your advice and I'm open to whatever is best for my new look.
I can not begin to thank you enough for your knowledge and you wonderful stories that made my Sunday so much more enjoyable. You must also know that I normally do not enjoy reading for pleasure. You are absolutely awesome!
You are the best,
I love your book! It is addictive. I couldn't stop reading (and applying) it. Great messages & writing & presentation! I am on a mission and I'm looking better every day. I've put myself on the to-do list with the rest of my family (mom used to always come last). THANK YOU so much!
Your mom must be so proud. You've contributed wonderfully to the well-being of women. Thank you Christopher!
I just saw your book and bought it on the spot. I'm so impressed with your information, artistry, presentation, conversational tone, and most of all-- your inspirational makeovers on real women. Your book is heads and shoulders above other books that purport to cover the same topic.
Keep doing what you do!
I found your book "Staging Your Comeback" and found it to be the most realistic and hopeful book.
The after pictures in your book are stunning, appropriate without being the least bit old, and they all look so confident in their own skins. That is where I am going. I have already made a couple of changes in my makeup, and I know my body type now (thank you)!
Thanks again for your great book. (I found it after having been diagnosed with osteopenia, a precursor to osteoporosis, while I was looking for a book on bone health. Still haven't picked up that bone book.)
Okay, so I've read the book (LOVE IT! I bought it on Friday, read it twice over the weekend) and I'm committed to pulling myself out of obscurity back into being beautiful. You should take up motivational speaking! All the hints in the book are great and I think I can pull it all together, but I've got a problem with hair and hair styles.
Thanks, Christopher - you really opened my eyes about being beautiful. It IS within my reach - I've just gotta go for it.
I just had to write and let you know how much I LOVE your book!
I felt I was getting it right in my 20's, but was losing it a little bit in my early 30's after starting my family. When I had a little more time to put the effort forth again, what worked in my 20's just was not working for me today. I looked dated!
I decided to purchase some books on makeup tips when I came across your book. What a great help, especially the makeup tips. I was doing it all WRONG! Who knew something as simple as using eyeliner on the upper inside eyelid could make such a difference. My co-workers commented "you look great. You did something different, what is it?" "I like your look". I love getting compliments again =)
I just had to write and say THANK YOU! I feel I am on my way to putting my "best face forward".
Yesterday I bought your book on a whim. Every page so far has reduced me to tears. Every excuse, every feeling, every denial has been my battle cry since I was fourteen.
I had a mother who was a Maid of Cotton (now it is Miss USA) and a disfiguring car wreck. My confidence has been still born for 42 years yet your book has given it hope and I feel the stirrings of a rebirth.
God bless and thank you on behalf of all the women whose life you are changing without you ever knowing. When you change a life it pools out and touches others lives with its light...
I just finished reading your book and had to email. I send a thousand 'thank you' notes for writing your book. I am a sixty something who just returned to the work force for my fourth career and believe me I had no clue what to wear.
When I was twenty and thirty is was simple - read a magazine, buy a little suit, understated make-up and I was good to go. Now with the uneven skin and the wrinkles and the SAD state of dress in the work place I was totally lost. I have never before been in this position so your book was a Godsend. I shall use every page (including the ones about organizing my closet-ugh). Best of the best to you.
I bought your book and loved it I have underlined and highlighted each and every page. I feel that your book is a breath of fresh air and a joy to read and am following all your hints and guidelines.
I am the true alluring/dramatic can't you tell and won't give up without prying your book out of my hands. The words old lady will get people beaten to the ground. If you are planning a beauty journal/workbook that goes into more depth. I would buy it yesterday.
I don't really have a question, just a note of thanks. For the first time in seven years, I feel hopeful that I can look okay again. I bought Staging Your Comeback yesterday. Boy, did I need it.
Six years and eleven months ago, my world fell apart in many ways-illness, miscarriages, job losses, financial hardship, you name it, I'd been through it. I was newly married at 40 and in my first year of law school, but I stuck it out and learned how to walk, talk and think again after severe illness. However, the traumas took their toll on my psyche and looks. I look sick and tired...and feel it, too.
But this book offers clear, realistic advice yet delivered stunning results. And the pictures are so beautiful. I'm thinking...maybe it is time for my comeback. I'm going to read it thoroughly and try some of the tips. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and gifts.
Cleveland Heights, OH
I just finished reading your new book. It is wonderful!!!
As many people say, (I'm sure) I have never written an author before in my life. But I just had to....
I am 53 years old. In the last few years I have gone through some pretty significant life changes including the death of a child, end of a 30 year marriage, re-entering the work force full time, and the sale of what was my "dream house" . The stress has taken a toll on me. If one more person tells me how "strong" I am, I might spit! I continue to take the time and make the effort each day to keep up my appearance up, but it is tough. Sometimes it feels like a losing battle.
Thanks for such a great book
I've never written to an author and maybe its the Minnesota connection, but I had to tell you that your book made me feel sooooo good. I now feel like there is hope for this lumpy dumpy frumpy woman. I have known I needed to do something different for at least ten years (I'm slow, ok?) and had no idea where in MN to go for real makeover advice.
Thanks for writing a great book Christopher. You are a genius !!
I've been going through your book for about a week now, and I'm enjoying your humor, wisdom and your genuine love for women-which resonates throughout the book.
A couple of months ago I was robbed (my purse was forcefully stolen from me, and I received some injuries) and it has really taken a toll on how I present myself on a daily basis. I am known at work for being a woman that loves to wear heels and nice accessories, and yet today (as I write this) I am in jeans, and active wear and sensible shoes. I have been reading through your book and trying to use your advice one step at a time-last night I applied nail polish. This morning I straightened my hair and used concealer and mascara. I am going to use your book to bring me back to the person I was before the attack.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to contact you-it's been a privilege.
